Experience:

James C. Roberts has been a health educator in Health and Social Services for more than two decades in a variety of government, non-profit and for-profit settings. Most recently, he was a Marketing Specialist for United Healthcare Community Plan (UHC) in Pennsylvania. James served UHC in Health Education, Quality Management, Provider Marketing and Community Relations and volunteered as Chair of the Philadelphia-based Southeast Asian Mutual Assistance Association Coalition.

Having lost his mother to the complications of Diabetes, James wishes he knew more about the disease before in comparison to now. As a result, he continues to educate and bring awareness of Diabetes with certification as a Diabetes Educator under the University of Chicago, Illinois Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP). James is currently the Diabetes Project Manager for Mountain-Pacific - Hawai'i with task overseeing the Everyone with Diabetes Counts Education Program in Hawai'i and on Guam. Their primary audience is Medicare beneficiaries living with Diabetes or Pre-diabetes, but anyone can participate in the program.

In Hawaii and Guam more than 600 people have gone through the six-part Diabetes education series and many have reported positive outcomes from getting the information. Some have reported either having their doctors reduce, or take them off of their medications.

Everyone with Diabetes Counts Education Program is free of charge while providing education onsite at church, senior centers, housing sites, clinics, and other social venues.
