Palolo Chinese Home

Summary of Services:

As a non-profit organization with over 120 years of service, Palolo Chinese Home continues to provide and accommodate the best of quality to kupuna and their families. They offer a full spectrum of services to meet the needs of seniors by providing senior day care, residential care, skilled nursing and rehab services on their 15-acre campus.

To assist seniors living at home, Palolo Chinese Home’s Meals-to-Go meal delivery service provides nutritious meals prepared in our kitchen to meet their prescribed dietary needs. They deliver meals Monday through Friday, for lunch and dinner. The same hot, nutritious meals are also available frozen and can be purchased in bulk. Seniors can choose from a variety of meals and families have the option of having the frozen meals delivered or they can pick them up directly from Palolo Chinese Home to avoid a delivery charge.

Their senior day care program is ideal for working family members who cannot safely leave their parents or a loved one at home alone wile they are at work. Their senior day care program is available seven days a week to accommodate different work schedules and to allow family caregivers to take care of other responsibilities on the weekends.

Their Palolo Wellness Program, provides care to seniors in their homes, offers companionship, light housekeeping, and personal care. Their Meals-to-Go program brings hot, fresh meals and frozen meals to seniors in their homes. This helps senior to get healthy and strong, and to age in place through their golden years.

Experience:

Steven Yim is the Food and Nutrition Services Manager and still considers himself a cook having graduated from KCC with an AS in Culinary Arts cooking professionally for 10 years. Steven worked with Chef Jeremy and Chef Mavro at the aptly named restaurant on the corner of King and McCully for about 3 years; honing his skills in the process.

Kim Agpoon is the Senior Day Care and Palolo Wellness Program Manager. She started in 2016 as a Program Aide for the Senior Day Care Program. She became the SDC/PWP clerk in 2018. In June of 2022, she was promoted to SDC/PWP Manager. It started when she came back from her Military training and applied at Palolo Chinese Home. She really liked working in the senior day care, especially meeting seniors and able to hear their life stories, and also to care for them. It makes Kim really happy when she sees their smiles and when they are able to do things that they think they can’t do in their senior years. Kim has hands on experience caring for our seniors in Senior Day Care and also for the Palolo Wellness Program and is currently in school studying Public Health Administration. Kim is not just a manager but I’m also a friend to their Seniors and their families that they can reach out to when they need anything.
