Laura Kay Rand has been involved in Hawaii nonprofits for more than 30 years, dedicating 4 to the Hawaii Foodbank. A certified member of Feeding America, Hawaii Foodbank operates as the official food bank for the state of Hawaii, serving Oahu and Kauai directly. Partnering with The Food Basket to serve Hawaii County, together with Maui Food Bank that services Maui County. Last year, Hawaii Foodbank and its network of food banks were able to distribute 16.6 million pounds of food to Hawaii residents in need.

Hawaii Foodbank

      • Launched in 1983 by John White, he worked with a local driver named Ron Keith in a small warehouse on Sand Island. Within their first year, they developed a network of 75 food partner agencies and distributed 380,000 of food. Since then, their food partner network has grown and distributed 10.7 million pounds of food to nearly 200 partner agencies in the last year. Hawaii Foodbank’s mission is that no one in Hawaii goes hungry. For 10 consecutive years, Hawaii Foodbank has received Charity Navigator’s four star rating for demonstrating strong financial health, accountability and transparency.
