Experience:

Stacy Takekawa is an estate planning attorney with Estate Planning Partners and a member of a committee that is working on crafting the version of the Uniform Trust Code that representatives of their legal field will introduce to the Hawaii State Legislature. She also serves on the Advisory Council for the Hawaii Community Foundation's Center for Professional Advisors. Stacy graduated from the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law in 2012 and became a licensed attorney later that fall.

Stacy grew up in Kailua in a multigenerational household with her grandparents and through that experience it shaped the person she is today. Having to witness her grandpa falling ill with vascular dementia and eventually passing away at home allowed her to experience firsthand what it was like to have her grandpa at home during his end-of-life care and the difference it made for him and her family. Once I became an estate planning attorney, I made sure my family was as prepared as we could be for my grandma to go through her end-of-life care at home as well.

The uniqueness of Stacy is being a younger estate planning attorney to have the ability to assist the next generation in the administration of the trusts and estates that are being set up today. She also works on Saturdays and evenings to help accomodate people's schedules and have availability to make house calls (even out to the West Side), as well as hospital visits when necessary.

Her motivation is having the desire to help people. Estate planning can but an emotional and confusing process, however Stacy strives to work hard to make it easier and more comfortable for her clients to have a peace of mind and to concentrate on taking care of each other instead of worrying about the legal process.
